Celebrating Tanabata at Meko: A Summer Tradition
2025-07-25

This July, Meko students had the opportunity to take part in a special celebration of Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival. Throughout the month, students from various classes joined in to mark the occasion by writing their wishes on colorful tanzaku, trying their hand at origami, and dressing up in traditional yukata.

Many of our students expressed hopes for their future endeavors here in Japan, from getting accepted into their favorite universities and passing the JLPT, to securing meaningful employment opportunities. Students also enjoyed choosing their favorite yukata, taking photos with classmates and teachers, and soaking in the festive spirit. Some students even stepped outside to snap a few summer photos by the Kanda River near our Takadanobaba campus.

This celebration was a wonderful way to welcome the summer before we head into our upcoming break. Meko will be closed for summer vacation from July 26th to August 17th, and we’ll return to our regular class schedule on Monday, August 18th.
