Participants in this program will gain experience in:
Experience Urban & Seasonal Contexts
Students will study contemporary Japanese life in Tokyo while exploring how seasonal climate and geography influence lifestyle and community identity in Hakuba.
Foundational Japanese Language Skills
Students will build practical Japanese language ability, from basic writing systems to essential conversational skills, applying their knowledge in daily interactions.
Anime & Creative Engagement
Through lectures and workshops, students will examine the artistic and cultural impact of anime while participating in guided creative exercises.
Winter & Regional Studies
In Hakuba, students will experience Japan’s alpine enironment through skiing and regional exploration. While having fun and develop their physical health, they will gain insight into how winter tourism and natural landscapes shape local communities.
Personal and Intercultural Development
Winter in Japan is a combination of passion and inner peace. Balancing academic study with outdoor experience encourages resilience, independence, and cross-cultural understanding.

*All activities are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. However, the number of activities will remain the same. Locations and detailed information will be released approximately two months in advance.
Eligibility
  • Applicants must be 16 or above.
  • Applicants must demonstrate independent living skills, including basic navigation and the ability to manage their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Applicants must acknowledge that this is a group program and agree to respect program policies and fellow participants.

Japanese Language Teachers
Deliver beginner-level Japanese instruction using both English and Japanese at the initial stage, gradually transitioning to a more immersive direct-method approach as students build confidence.
Program Faculty Team
Lead lectures, anime workshops, and experiential learning activities, integrating academic knowledge with culture insights. All classes will be conducted in English or in Japanese with interpretation support.
