This June, Meko Education was proud to partner once again with CIEE to offer Japanese language instruction as part of their summer study abroad program in Tokyo. Over two exciting weeks, nearly 70 students from the United States joined us to kick off their introduction to Japanese language and culture.
Through immersive lessons led by our experienced instructors, students learned hiragana, katakana, and common expressions used in everyday conversation. They practiced introducing themselves, talking about their hobbies, and even learned how to say their birthday, favorite Japanese words, and useful phrases to use while shopping in Japan. Each class was interactive and fun—filled with games, speaking practice, and cultural discovery.
Alongside the language course, students also had the chance to take part in voice acting and anime character design workshops hosted by our sister institution, the Anime Artist Academy. These sessions gave students a taste of the creative world Japan is so well known for.
By the end of the two weeks, many students were confidently using Japanese in conversation, showing just how much can be accomplished with energy, curiosity, and the right learning environment.
We’re so proud of the progress each student has made, and we look forward to welcoming our next group of CIEE students this July!
